Abstract

This work is a sketch of urbanism teaching development in I.E.A.L., showing how this has gradually adapted itself to the concrete demands of professional practice by means of laying a special emphasis upon a practical training in handling the setting up, carrying forward and putting into effect of the planning process and of how this is done by means of practical exercises that simulate professional conditions and are carried out by interprofessional groups of students. Those distinct stages that the teaching of urbanism has gon e through are set out in the first part of the work as is the Institutions continuing concern for this field. In the second part, such exercises as have been undertaken by its students are laid out for appraisal, a special attention being granted here to showing both the quality and with what professional depth these were undertaken and concluded, this to the end of showing not only the degree of competence reached in each of the specific subjects taught but also to underline that degree of interdisciplinary team work that such projects have provoked.
