Abstract

This article intends to transfer the experience, approaches and reflections of its author from the position of Director and coordinator of the drafting works of the Law of Territorial Planning and Sustainable Urbanism of Extremadura (LOTUS). The path that has led, in a novel way, to the adoption of very specific determinations on criteria of sustainable management and planning, allowing the application to the design of our towns and cities of corrective measures against possible situations of discrimination, limitation of use and risks , which contravene the basic principles of gender equality. This progress achieved with the new Law 11/2018, in the integration of the gender perspective in management, must be complemented with other important instruments that this law provides serving to its further development. The article concludes with a series of reflections regarding the provisions that must be taken into account by the administrations for the correct implementation of the regulatory development in which the Autonomous Community of Extremadura is immersed.
