City dynamics show urban growth in consolidated areas and production of new outer spaces as a consequence of certain city-building strategies. This paper intends to compare the link between public policy and urban planning in Madrid long before and right after year 2015, the moment when the left-wing coalition Ahora Madrid gained back the city council 26 years later. A qualitative data research was conducted to bring up the meaning of large urban liberalism in Madrid city outskirts ruled by market laws. Analyzing official documents, political records and viewpoints from stakeholders as well as different opinions from city consultants, affected communities and research journalism turned out to be revealing about the current urban dynamics. It can be concluded that the new city government put an end in 2015 to the long years of urban liberalism in Madrid and started a new age of moderate city growth.Downloads
