Post-crisis metropolitan trajectory and rehabilitation in Valencia: search of new models?
Keywords:
Post-crisis recovery, economic social and territorial model, international projection, Metropolitan Area of ValenciaAbstract
The economic crisis that began in 2008 has affected European urban spaces in different ways. The metropolitan area of Valencia has been one of the most deeply influenced by this recession, reflected among other aspects in the loss of jobs, closure of companies and social polarization. This paper analyses the characteristics of the growth model of this territory prior to the crisis, as well as the recent reorientation of metropolitan policies as a result of the change in the political cycle initiated in 2015. The previous urban, social and economic model determines - and complicates - the possibilities of recovery, despite the institutional and political effort, and the generation of new tools for planning and management of this complex territory. In conclusion, there has been an improvement, although slight, in the process of economic and social recovery, despite the significant economic burdens and low governance level of the previous legislatures.Downloads
