Abstract

Throughout the article the intervention model implemented in the urban restoration
of the Poblado Dirigido of Caño Roto is analysed. It was a territorial operation carried out
between 1994 and 2004, as a result of the precarious structural and functional state of the conjunbuildings. The fact that it could be finished within a limited time has led us to choose it in order to study those aspects which determine the evolution of the whole process: policies and economic stimulus mechanisms awarded through specific programmes and figures; planning of the intervention, or instruments characteristic of planning and legislation on urban development; the system of management, or agents involved and the investment that this means; and citizen participation, or the role played by the population and its effects on the process. In this way, the success and failure factors of the intervention model adopted can be extracted, allowing its optimisation in future operations.
