Abstract

With regard to three proposals which were put forward between 1957 and 1969, for
Miraflores, a district in the south east of the city of Zaragoza (Spain), the article investigates three
different convictions concerning the city although they were all closely related to the theoretical
derivations of the Modern Movement. The three convictions are manifested through three aspects:
the building type used, the design of the minimum urban areas and the structure of the whole. As
an example, it is observed that the proposals and the theoretical theses they were based on lacked
a unifying vision of these three aspects, with each one emerging separately. Consequently, together
with the positive achievements of these convictions, negative effects are revealed the knowledge
of which may focus the current work of the town planner.
