“Ciudad Astur”, a metropolitan singularity

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to provide a description of the distinguishing features of “Ciudad
Astur” in the context of the Spanish metropolitan areas. “Ciudad Astur” is the phrase with which to
designate the urban system with metropolitan features that has emerged in the last two decades
as the result of the transformation of the centenary industrial district established in the center of
the country. This portrait is the result of a dynamic approach, since it comes from the previous
territorial system features for, through the urban recent phenomena, understand the keys of its
current configuration.

With the aim of promoting the dissemination of knowledge, CyTET joins the Open Journal Access (OA) movement and delivers all of its content to various national and international indexes, repositories and databases under this protocol; therefore, the submission of a work to be published in the journal presupposes the explicit acceptance by the author of this distribution method.
