Abstract

The paper focuses on showing the influence of cultural factors in the processes of urban
transformation through the case study: King’s Cross in central London. It begins by considering the
hypothesis that private developers are examples of urban discourse closer to the new middle
classes excluding residents of lower classes so as to enable urban change. So it is evident the
presence of alternative discourses to slow down. To achieve this aim a quantitative analysis,
documentary analysis, interviews, and observation has been made. It presents first the reflective
current debate in Britain after goes on to describe the case study and analyze the regeneration
process based upon the speeches of the various participants.
