Abstract

Suspecting that the marked growth of the population of the island of Tenerife over recent years could have
possibly harmed access to education and health services in some places on the island, the authors were led
to examining the similarities and differences as to access to infrastructures and social services of the
population. The methodology which was used to establish a classifi cation of the groupings of population of
the island consists of an estimating of the accessibility to said services along with the cluster analysis. The
analysis once undertaken has revealed that the spatial average accessibility to the centres of education and
to the sanitary services is average or high in the greater part of the island.
