Green Space as a Factor of Standards of Living Within the City
Keywords:
Zonas verdes, planeamiento urbano, confort, Valencia (España)Abstract
After opening with a thoroughgoing consideration of the importance to any city of its green spaces, the
methods used and the action plan adopted to verify their impact upon the quality of life as within the city
of Valencia – this to be taken as a model of reference for Mediterranean cities- is then undertaken. Taking
into consideration the city’s climate, various internationally recognized quality-of-life indicators are then applied
to districts of the city here taken to be type-determined and which together would give an overall image of
the city as a whole. The method has shown that some of these indicators can indeed be linked with the
incidence of green zones as within those districts enjoying a high quality of living. The method is thus here
deemed as of use when it comes to green space planning for large cities.
