Abstract
The International Fora section is devoted to monitoring and analysing the activity carried out within the main international bodies and forums in which norms, guidelines and initiatives relevant to private international law and cross-border legal relations are discussed, developed or promoted. Its purpose is to provide a systematic overview of the normative, doctrinal and technical work undertaken at the international level and its impact, whether direct or indirect, on domestic legal systems and on European Union law.
This section examines, inter alia, the work of international organisations and conferences, processes of codification and legal harmonisation, the adoption of international conventions and other instruments, as well as initiatives aimed at judicial cooperation and the mutual recognition of decisions. Particular attention is paid to the evolution and current status of these initiatives and to the legal issues they raise from the perspective of private international law.
Rather than offering a merely descriptive account, the International Fora section provides a critical assessment of the scope, objectives and potential practical impact of international initiatives on the development and future evolution of private international law. In doing so, it serves as a reference point for understanding the international dimension of the discipline and the role played by international fora in shaping cross-border legal relations.
