Abstract

Carl Schmitt is, undoubtedly, one of the authors who more has influenced the political theory in Spain. The aim of this study is to clarify in what measure he influenced the figure of one of the biggest conservative thinkers of the second half of the 20th century in Spain, Gonzalo Fernández de la Mora. The theory of History, the conception of the political and the projection of his theory in the international relations shape the three axes of this comparison. From this perspective there appear points of contact and of difference and it will be verified how, assuming partially the schmittian categories, Fernandez de la Mora’s thought turns out to be, in a sense, an answer to the work of the German author. From the perspective of the Plettenberg’s jurist Fernandez de la Mora’s thought might be qualified of «liberal».
