Abstract

Deliberative democracy and the information and communication technologies play a central role in the debate about the deepening of our democratic practices. On the one hand, the proposal of Jürgen Habermas and those who share their perspectives are committed to a revitalization of the public space. It is the center of their political model. On the other hand, the emergence of the Internet and the Web 2.0 has motivated a structural change of the public space dominated by mass media. However, is this structural change an opportunity window for the implementation of Habermas’s deliberative model? In this line, this article discusses whether this digital communication based on interactive tools and political blogging reflect the pattern defined by the theory of discourse.
