Assesment of the Programme Agains Hidatid Echinoecocosis in Extremadura after Seven Years of Activity

Abstract

Since 1983 we had made a programme of control of hydatidoses-echynococoses based in health promotion, actions to combat human and animal hydatidoses, echynococoses and other complementary procedures. After 7 years of evaluation, the parasitation descends: 96,80 % in dogs, 55,74 % in sheeps, 54,69 % in cattles, 79,99 % in goats and 77,59 % in pigs. The human incidence is 11,59/100.000 hab. The program?s cost-benefit shows a real efficacy 67 %, and a potential rentability of 970 %, being the total lost caused by the disease 264.371.242 ptas/year and without programe a total lost of 311.535.272 ptas/year.
