Hepatitis A Virus (HAV) Antibodies Prevalence in an Urban Health Care District

Abstract

The prevalence of anti-HAV antihodies has been studied in alcatory samplc belonging to an urban health district in Valladolid. The prevalence of anti-HAV was 69.9 % and increased in a progressive way from 19,5 - 7,9% in the age group less than 10 years old to 93,5 + 5,0 in the age group of 31-40 years old. After the age of 30 years, the scroprevalence remains between 93% and 97%;. Sex, profession and civil status did not influente in a significant way. The prevalence of anti-HAV seroepidemiological pattern observed by the present work, is similar to the pattern found in other areas of our country, although the children prevalence of anti- HAV in our area is higher than the children prevalence of anti-HAV observed in other studies.
