Abstract

The objsctive of this works is: to study thoroughly the epidemiological aspects of meninx infcctions ín the region of Murcia. Results obteined in other studies about age, sex and meningitis diffcrent distribution, depending on the population density, are confirmed. Other variables in relation to the staking up are also analized, noticing that the relation: number of cohabitants/ number of bedrooms, is higher than 2 in 17.9 ?% of the cases, where this variable could be cuantified; in 46.2 % of the cases a family member showed a previons high respiratory track infection. In our series, it is not more frecuently observed the bacterial or virical etiology either in the whole of cases or in a particuler season of the year, which makes a difference with other authors. In most comparisons between these variables, an statistical significance is not reached frecuently, it has not been possible to relate data with those ones, coming from the whole population; however we hope, we have made casuistry richer in epidemiological and socio-sanitary aspects of this contagious-infectious disease which keeps on having a great social transcendency due to its fatality and because there still exist deficiencies to prevent it.
