Résumé

Composition and distribution of the hyporheic and macrobenthic fauna of a Neotropical mountain river, Colombia. This study examined the composition and diversity of the invertebrate community that inhabits the hyporheic zone (HZ) in the upper and lower basin of the Dagua River, a tropical mountain stream, and its relationship with the benthic fauna. In the HZ different taxa were collected, of which many have been reported in several world regions; that suggests that the biodiversity of the hyporheic community in Colombian rivers may be high. Although the hyporheic and benthic faunas shared a high percentage (> 50%) of taxa, their ecological structure was different. The analysis of hyporheic filtrate water showed the presence of microplastic fibers, together with the fauna, a condition that, based on the literature review, could represent a risk for the normal functioning of this river ecosystem.
