The community of ostracods in wetlands of the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula

Abstract

The first data on the ostracod community in wetlands of the southeastern Spain (Jaén and Córdoba provinces) are shown. A total of 21 wetlands have been studied, having recorded the presence of 12 species of ostracods, belonging to 8 different genera. The singularity values show the importance of temporary and saline wetlands for this biotic community. This contribution highlights the need to increase knowledge about the ecology and distribution of ostracod species in the Iberian Peninsula.
