The Doctorate in Exact Sciences in Spain between 1922 and 1930
Abstract
Our objective is to describe the doctorate in exact sciences imparted at the Central University of Madrid during the years 1922-30 as we did with the periods 1900-21 and 1931-36. We will examine the general legislation on the doctorate and the doctoral theses in exact sciences defended. We will release dates, authors and titles thereof, the composition of the juries and the qualifications they granted, as well as the research groups in which they were carried out. We will also mention some data on the professional evolution of graduates. Since the renewal of the doctorate in exact sciences in 1915, the decade we are now studying in between the brilliant five-year periods 1916-21 and 1931-36, was an intermediate period with less performance in the production of doctoral graduates.
