Abstract

Low back pain is one of the major health problems that currently affects the world population and whose etiology is multifactorial. Evaluating adult’s knowledge related to back pain it is a need to address educational and training interventions. The Low Back Pain Knowledge Questionnaire (LKQ) was originally developed and validated in English, so the objective of this study is to the adapt it to Spanish language and to analyze its validity and reliability.

The translation and cross-cultural adaptation was carried out according to the recommended guidelines. Furthermore, the translation and back-translation method was used in a first phase, and in a second phase the psychometric properties of the questionnaire were analyzed.

The results show that the Spanish version of the LKQ is valid and reliable (Cronbach's alpha 0,72; intraclass correlation coefficient 0,539).

In conclusion, the Spanish version of the LKQ is presented as a useful tool- to evaluate the knowledge related to the back care in adults.
