Instructions for the authors:

Papers sent to the journal for review and possible publication must have the following format:

In the whole document, except for the first page, the font will be Times New Roman, size 11pt., and paragraphs will have single line spacing. There will be two columns (it is allowed to use 1 column in tables whose width is greater than the width of the column). Upstream will be 0 and understream will be 12, except for the title in each section, in which upstream will be 0. The top and bottom margins will be 4cm and 3cm, respectively. Lateral margins will be 1.5cm. Tabulations and spaces in between paragraphs must not be included. In the first page there are certain exceptions such as: font size, which must be adjusted to the format of the template, 1.5 line spacing, and there will be only one column.

Papers will have a specific format which can be seen in the papers template and title page. Authors can download it from the “Journal of Sport and Health Research” website. In this template, authors must insert their work, and then send it in Word format to the Editor, who will revise it. Additionaly, in this title page, authors must attach a file with the authorship data (the full name of the authors must appear and not only the initial of the name). This should include the title of the manuscript, as well as the data of the authors as they should appear in the authorship. The institution and email of each author must be included. At the end of this page, the name of the main author must be included together with their institution, as well as their address, their phone number (if they consider it relevant), and an e-mail address in case contact in needed. The template for this page will be the first page of the JSHR template.

Authorship:
First page: All articles must include the paper’s reference and the kind of research in their first page, which can be downloaded here. In addition, the title in spanish, english and portuguese, the name of all the authors and their institutions. At the end of this page, the name of the main author must be included together with their institution, as well as their address, their phone number (if they consider it relevant), and an e-mail address in case contact in needed.

Second page: The second page must contain a detailed abstract, which must include the aims pursued, the material and methods used, the results, a brief discussion, as well as a conclusion. The keywords (between 3 and 10) must appear at the end of it. These keywords should be different from those in the title. Both the abstract and the keywords must be written in Spanish, English y Portuguese. 

Paper structure: Paper structure is different in relation with the kind of paper or section. In one hand, papers direct to original section must include: Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements (if they consider it relevant) and Refences. In the other hand, papers direct to review and clinics cases section will show the structure and the parts that the authors considerer necessary, at the end of the papers must be appear the Acknowledgements (if they consider it relevant) and Refences. Respect to the editor letters section, only can be published those reference to some published papers in the last three number. These letters will always have the intention to contribute to the scientist development, by news knowledge, opinions or relevant experience.

References: All references must appear at the end of the paper. These will follow the APA 7th style (International Rules for Periodical Publication). Below, you can see some examples:

-BOOKS: Author 1, A.A.; Author 2, B.B.; Author 3, C.C. (Year of publication). Book title (edition). Place of publication: publisher.

-CHAPTERS IN BOOKS: Author, A.A.; Author, B.B.; Author, C.C. (Year of publication). Title of chapter. In Author, D.D. Title of the book (edition). Place of publication: publisher.

-PERIODICAL PUBLICATION: Author, A.A.; Author, B.B.; Author, C.C. (Year of publication). Title of the paper. Title of the journal. Volume (number): initial page-end page.

-ELECTRONIC PERIODICAL PUBLICATION: In a similar way as Periodical Publication although you will have to include: Available in: http://URL [Access Date: month year]

All references must be numbered, in alphabetical order, and without any spacing between them. Those publications written in Spanish should use "y" and not "&" between the penultimate and the last author. If the manuscript is written in English, "&" should be used. Besides, all references must be inserted in the body of the article. These will be indicated between brackets, the name of the author(s) followed by a comma, and the year of publication. If there is one or two authors, all of them will appear. However, if there are more authors, only the first one will be included, followed by the phrase "et al.", and the year of publication.

Tables, illustrations, photographs and graphics must be inserted into the text in the appropriate place. Tables and figures must be included in editable format and not as images. Images must be in .JPG or .TIFF form. In relation to the values of the tables and the text, the authors should always show the value 0 of the units when there are decimals. For example, to use "0,63" and not ",63". Likewise, comma and no point should be used following the indications of the International System of Units.

Evaluation of the papers: Papers will be sent anonymously to two external evaluators, professionals of acknowledged people within the areas of health, education or physical activity and sport, so that they can be evaluated. The reviewers, unaware of who the authors are, will send the Editor a report – positive or negative – about its possible publication in “Journal of Sport and Health Research”. They may also include some amendments and clarifications they deem appropriate regarding the sent paper, for possible future publication. These clarifications, together with the report of acceptance, acceptance with minor corrections, with modifications acceptance, no acceptance until reception of the modifications or rejection, developed by evaluators, will be sent to the authors of the paper for their attention.

There will be the possibility that, when submitting their article, the authors will also be able to recommend the name and contact of possible expert reviewers in the area of their work. These should not belong to their institution or have collaborative publications together. In this way, the section editor will be able to take them into consideration when sending them their work for review.

Additionally, the journal gives authors the possibility that, once it is accepted in Spanish, they can also send the work in English in order to and to give their work greater international dissemination. In that case your work will be published in both languages.

Acceptance and publication of papers: The authors will be formally informed of the acceptance of their paper after it has been evaluated and definitively accepted by the reviewers and the editorial committee. Subsequently, before the accepted paper will be sent for make the final preparations for publication, the established fee of 150€ must be paid for each article (fee applicable to all articles received from January 1, 2019). The bank details to make the entry of the fee are the following: Didactic Association Andalucia SS IBAN: ES33 0049 2502 17 2194152076 BIC or SWIFT: BSCHESMMXXX. The authors must indicate the code of their article "JSHR_YEAR_NUMBER" (E.g. JSHR_2019_32) and the name of the corresponding author in the concept of the payment. After the payment will be made, authors must send the proof of the operation to the emails editor@journalshr.com and chiefeditor.jshr@gmail.com (both are mandatory), authors must send the proof of the operation to the email "editor@journalshr.com, indicating in the subject "JSHR_Code_Payment_for_Publication".

Request for Special Numbers: If any researcher or institution considers to request a Special Issue with a specific theme in the Journal of Sport and Health Research, they must send an email to "editor@journalshr.com" indicating in the subject "Special Number Request". In the body of the mail guest editors must indicate the subject of the number, justify their scientific interest, and detail the temporality of submission, evaluation and publication of papers. In the case of the special issue will be acceptanced, the management of this special issue will fall on the persons who had requested it. Every special issue will have the direct supervision of a member of the editorial committee of JSHR in order to guarantee the success of the process. The management and publication rates of each article in a special issue will be treated directly with the editor in chief.

Publication ethics and publication malpractice statement: For submitted papers that show experiments conducted in humans, authors should check and indicate that experiments have been conducted by Helsinki Declaration Ethical Rules (1975) and the funding institution (if there were). In adittion, it´s recommended to follow the ICMJE’s Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals. Journal of Sport and Health Research follows the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers. It is expected of authors, reviewers and editors that they follow the best-practice guidelines on ethical behaviour contained therein.

Additional Information: Authors are encouraged to use inclusive and non-sexist language in their manuscripts. As additional information, it is recommended for the authors to revise those papers that have appeared in past issues in the journal and which are related to the topic of their paper. In order to avoid publishing similar articles and encourage further research which is based on existing research, evaluators will appreciate this positively for the evaluation of each of the Papers sent. In order that authors can spread their work, Journal SHR allows authors to include their papers in repositories with the only condition that quote the paper in references. To quote de paper use the reference appearing on the first page of your paper.

Instrucciones para autores:

Los trabajos remitidos a la revista para su revisión y posible publicación deberán presentar el siguiente formato:

En todo el documento, excepto en la primera página, el tipo de letra será Times New Roman, con un tamaño de 11 puntos. Deberá dejar un interlineado sencillo. El formato de columnas será de 2 (estña permitido utilizar 1 columna en las tablas cuyo ancho sea superior al de la columna). El espaciado anterior será de 0 y el posterior de 12, excepto en los títulos de cada apartado, en los que el espaciado posterior también será 0. El margen superior será de 4 cm y el inferior de 3 cm. Los márgenes laterales serán de 1,5 cm. No se deberán incluir tabulaciones ni espacios en vacíos entre párrafos. En la primera página existen determinadas excepciones como son: el tamaño de  letra, que deberá ajustarse al formato de la planilla; el interlineado que será de 1,5; y el formato de columna que será de 1. Existe una planilla, con el formato de los trabajos, que los autores podrán descargar pinchando aquí y otra para la autoría, que se podrá descargar aquí. En dicha planilla los autores deberán insertar su trabajo, para posteriormente enviarla en formato Word al editor de la revista para que se pueda proceder a la valoración del mismo.

Además, en la planilla de autoría, deberá aparecer el título del manuscrito, así como los datos de los autores tal y como deben figurar en la autoría (debe aparecer el nombre completo de los autores y no únicamente la inicial del nombre). Se deberá incluir la institución y el email de cada autor. Al final de esta página deberá aparecer el nombre completo del autor principal, incluyendo la institución a la que pertenece, así como su dirección postal, un número de teléfono (si lo considera oportuno) y una dirección de correo electrónico para posibles contactos con el mismo. La plantilla de esta página será la primera página (completa) del modelo de JSHR.

Autoría:

Primera página: Todos los artículos deberán incluir en la primera página la referencia del trabajo y el tipo de trabajo que se presenta. Además, deberá aparecer el título del trabajo, en castellano, inglés y portugúes, el nombre de los autores, la institución o instituciones a la que pertenecen cada uno de ellos. Al final de esta página deberá aparecer el nombre completo del autor de contacto, incluyendo la institución a la que pertenece, así como su dirección postal, un número de teléfono (si lo considera oportuno) y una dirección de correo electrónico para posibles contactos con el mismo. 

Segunda página: La segunda página debe contener un resumen del trabajo, en el que se incluyan de manera breve los objetivos perseguidos, el material y métodos utilizados, los resultados, unas breves líneas de discusión y, por último, las conclusiones que se desprenden del mismo. Tras el resumen se deben introducir unas palabras clave (entre 3 y 10), que a ser posible no coincidan con las que aparecen en el título del trabajo. Tanto el resumen como las palabras clave se deben incluir en castellano, como en inglés y portugués. 

Estructura de los trabajos: La estructura de los artículos presenta variaciones en función del tipo de trabajo del que se trate y de la sección a la que se destine. En este sentido, los trabajos dirigidos a la sección de originales deberán incluir: Introducción; Material y métodos; Resultados; Discusión; Conclusiones; Agradecimientos (en el caso de que sea necesario); y por último Referencias Bibliográficas. Por su parte, los trabajos dirigidos a la sección de revisiones y de casos clínicos presentarán la estructura y los apartados que el autor considere necesarios, incluyendo al final los apartados de: Agradecimientos (en el caso de que sea necesario); y por último Bibliografía. Respecto a la sección de cartas al editor, solamente tendrán cabida las que hagan referencia a alguno de los artículos publicados en cualquiera de los 3 números anteriores siempre que la intención sea la de contribuir al desarrollo científico mediante el aporte de conocimientos, opiniones o experiencias relevantes.

Referencias Bibliográficas: Al final de todos los trabajos remitidos se deben añadir las referencias bibliográficas básicas que se han utilizado para la elaboración del trabajo, siguiendo las normas APA 7th (normas internacionales para publicaciones científicas periódicas), como indican los siguientes ejemplos:

-LIBROS: Autor 1, A.A.; Autor 2, B.B.; Autor 3, C.C. (Año de publicación). Título del libro (edición). Lugar de publicación: editorial.

-CAPÍTULOS DE LIBROS: Autor, A.A.; Autor, B.B.; Autor, C.C. (Año de publicación). Título del capítulo. En Autor, D.D. Título del libro (edición). Lugar de publicación: editorial.

-PUBLICACIONES PERIÓDICAS: Autor, A.A.; Autor, B.B.; Autor, C.C. (Año de publicación). Título del artículo. Título de la revista. Volumen(número):página inicial-página final.

-PUBLICACIONES PERIÓDICAS ELECTRÓNICAS: se hará de la misma forma que las Publicaciones Periódicas aunque habrá que incluir al final: Disponible en: http://dirección_electrónica [Consulta: mes año]

Todas las referencias deberán aparecer numeradas, por orden alfabético y sin dejar líneas en blanco entre una y la siguiente. Aquellas publicaciones escritas en castellano deberán emplear “y” y no “&” entre el penúltimo y el último autor. Si el manuscrito se encuentra escrito en lengua inglesa se deberá emplear “&”. Todas las referencias bibliográficas que aparezcan en la bibliografía deberán aparecer en el cuerpo del artículo. Para referenciarlas en el cuerpo del artículo se seguirán las siguientes instrucciones: Si han sido elaborados por uno o dos autores, se pondrán todos seguidos del año de publicación. En el caso de que fueran más los autores de un trabajo se nombraría al primero de ellos, seguido de la partícula “et al.” y posteriormente el año de publicación.   

Las tablas, ilustraciones, fotos y gráficos deben estar insertados en el texto, en el lugar que corresponda. Las tablas y figuras deben incluirse en formato editable y no como imagen. Las imágenes deben estar incluidas en forma .JPG o .TIFF. En relación a los valores de las tablas y el propio texto, los autores deberán mostrar siempre el valor 0 de las unidades cuando existan decimales. Por ejemplo, utilizar “0,63” y no “,63”. Asimismo, se deberá utilizar coma y no punto siguiendo las indicaciones del Sistema Internacional de Unidades de Medida. 

Evaluación de los trabajos: La forma de evaluar los artículos será mediante el sistema anónimo de revisión por pares o “doble ciego”. Consiste en el envío de los trabajos de forma anónima al menos a dos evaluadores, profesionales de reconocido prestigio dentro de las áreas de la salud, la educación o la actividad física y el deporte, para que los puedan valorar. Éstos, sin conocer a los autores, emitirán al editor un informe positivo o negativo sobre su posible publicación en la revista “Journal of Sport and Health Reserarch”. Del mismo modo incluirán las posibles modificaciones y aclaraciones que estimen oportunas sobre el trabajo enviado de cara a una posible publicación futura. Estas aclaraciones junto con el informe de aceptación, aceptación con pequeñas correcciones, aceptación con modificaciones; no aceptación hasta recebir las modificaciones; o de rechazo, elaborados por los evaluadores, serán remitidos a los autores de los trabajos para su conocimiento.

Existirá la posibilidad de que, al realizar el envío de su artículo, los autores también podrán recomendar el nombre y contacto de posibles revisores expertos en la temática de su trabajo. Estos no deberán pertenecer a su institución ni tener publicaciones en colaboración. De este modo, el editor de sección los podrá tener en consideración a la hora de enviarles su trabajo para revisión.

Adicionalmente, y para dar una mayor difusión internacional a su trabajo, la revista da la posibilidad a los autores de que, una vez sea aceptado en castellano, estos puedan enviar también el trabajo en inglés. En ese caso su trabajo será publicado en los dos idiomas.

Aceptación y publicación de los trabajos: Una vez que un trabajo haya sido evaluado y aceptado de manera definitiva se le comunicará al autor de contacto mediante correo electrónico Posteriormente, antes de pasar el artículo aceptado a maquetación y a cola de publicación se deberá satisfacer la cuota establecida de 150 € para cada artículo (cuota aplicable a todos los artículos recibidos desde el 1 de enero de 2019). Los datos bancarios para realizar el ingreso de la cuota son los siguientes: Didactic Association Andalucia SS IBAN: ES33 0049 2502 17 2194152076 BIC or SWIFT: BSCHESMMXXX. Debe indicar en el concepto JSHR seguido del código del artículo y del nombre del autor de contacto. Una vez realizado el ingreso debe enviar un correo electrónico con el justificante de la operación a las direcciones editor@journalshr.com y chiefeditor.jshr@gmail.com (ambos son obligatorios), indicando en el asunto “JSHR_Codigo Cuota Publicación”.

Solicitud de Números Especiales: Si algún investigador o institución consideran oportuno solicitar un Número Especial de la revista Journal of Sport and Health Research para publicar trabajos con una temática concreta deberá enviar un email a la dirección editor@journalshr.com indicando en el asunto “Solicitud de Número Especial”. En el cuerpo del correo deberá indicar la temática del número; justificar su interés científico; detallar la temporalidad de recepción de trabajos, evaluación y publicación. En el caso de ser aceptada dicha solicitud, la coordinación de dicho número recaerá sobre las personas que la hubiesen solicitado. Todo número especial tendrá la supervisión directa de un editor de la revista que garantice el éxito del proceso. La gestión y tasas de publicación de cada artículo en un número especial serán tratadas de manera directa con el editor.

Normas éticas y pautas sobre malas prácticas en publicación: En el caso de que los trabajos enviados muestren experimentos que se han llevado a cabo en seres humanos, los autores deben revisar e indicar que dichos experimentos se han realizado bajo las normas éticas de la Declaración de Helsinki (1975) y de la propia institución de financiación (si las hubiera). Además, se recomienda seguir las indicaciones de ICMJE’s Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals. Journal of Sport and Health Research sigue las directrices de COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors y Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers. Se espera por parte de autores, revisores y editores que sigan las directrices éticas y de buenas prácticas que contienen estas guías.

Información adicional: Se recomienda que los autores utilicen un lenguaje inclusivo y no sexista en sus manuscritos. También se recomienda a los autores revisar los artículos que han aparecido en números anteriores de la revista y que estén relacionados con la temática de su trabajo. Con el objetivo de que el autor pueda difundir su trabajo lo máximo posible, la revista permite que los autores pongan disponibles sus artículos en repositorios con la única condición de que indiquen explícitamente la referencia bibliográfica propia del artículo que aparece en la primera página de su artículo.
