Abstract
It is known that physical activity has important health benefits for pregnant women. Even though, very little researches have been made about the enjoyment at physical activity gives to pregnant women. The main objective of this study was to analyze the level of enjoyment produced by a multi-activity physical exercise program in pregnant women. For that, 208 women have taken part in this study. The physical activity program started in the 14th week pregnancy stage until the 38th week of pregnancy. Among this physical activity program, aerobic exercised lessons have been made, as well as balance, strength, stretching and relaxing lessons and finally, aquatic lessons. Once the intervention of 24 weeks was finished, a physical activity Enjoyment Scale (PACES) survey was given to them. Taking into account all the pregnant women in the research, the scored obtained 75.27 ± 3.72 values (in a 16-80 point scale). Similar values were observed between less than 35 years old pregnant women and older than 35 years pregnant women (75.29 ± 3.75 and 75.17 ± 3.67 respectively). Therefore, we can conclude that the effect of the physical activity program in pregnant women caused high levels of enjoyment. The enjoyment was similar for less than 35 years old pregnant women and older than 35 years pregnant women.
