Abstract

The objective of this article is to carry out a bibliographic review on the sports transition process from junior to elite in soccer and basketball players. A systematic research was carried out following the indications of the PRISMA methodology. The keywords "career transition", "junior-to-senior", "football OR soccer" or "basketball", "elite sport" were used. SportDiscus, PubMed, and Web of Science were used as databases. Initially, 670 articles were obtained, which were reduced to 24 after applying the exclusion and inclusion criteria. It has been identified that some barriers, factors and strategies are advisable for football and basketball clubs to be taken into account so they can improve the athlete's development process and obtain a higher success rate, as well as for athletes to achieve greater sports performance.
