Abstract

The Castilian entailed estate has been little studied from a social perspective, and the almost total ignorance of such a relevant issue as the Jewish-converse presence is remarkable. The system of property entailment not only had an important number of founders of Jewish origin, but this economic practice was essential in the processes of social ascent and definitive assimilation of the marginalised group. This work aims to provide a first approach to the subject from a global perspective and through the study of numerous and varied archival records.
