Un enfoque hermenéutico de la traducción cultural

Resumen

La traducción es la máxima expresión de la necesidad cultural de conocer y participar en el espectáculo de la vida. La labor de recrear en una lengua diferente un texto que ya existe en otra, constituye un caso extremo de dificultad hermenéutica. El énfasis de la hermenéutica como teoría general de la interpretación ya no recae en la interpretación correcta sino en establecer que significa interpreta y que limitaciones y características intrínsecas presenta el ejercicio de la comprensión. No hay sentido antes o independiente de la comprensión, por lo que la “soledad” de los signos nos insta a intentar recomponer su complejo significativo. Sin embargo, ni el texto ni su exégesis quedan completos, siempre hay huecos que hacen variable la percepción y la interpretación del mensaje y es ahí precisamente donde está su fuerza. La teoría hermenéutica aporta a la traductología una visión, según la cual del traductor se espera que reinvente el texto más desde su óptica que desde la del autor, que sugiera o insinúe lo que las palabras no llegan a decir, que dé cuenta de la ideología, la cosmovisión y la filosofía sobre el mundo que deja entrever el texto original. Abstract A Hermeneutic Approach to Cultural Translation Denitsa BOGOMILOVA ATANASOVA Translation is the highest expression of the cultural need to know the symphony of life and to take part in it. The task of recreating in a different language, a text that already exists in another amounts to a hermeneutic case of extreme difficulty. Hermeneutics as a general theory of interpretation does not lay anymore stress on correctness of interpretation but aims to establish what interpretation means and what restrictions and in-built features the comprehension practice implies. There is no meaning without comprehension. That is why the “lonelyness” of signs drives us to try to rebuild their meaning as a whole. Nonetheless, neither the text nor its exegesis remains complete, there are always gaps that make the reception and interpretation of the message variable, and it is here where its strength lies. Hermeneutic theory brings to Translation Studies a vision which enables the translator to reinvent the text from where he/she stands rather than from where the author does, to imply or to hint at what words do not actually say, and to reflect ideology, world view and philosophy of life inferred by the original text.
