Hermes, el dios que envejece. Un ejemplo: La <i>Ilíada</i>

Resumen

El autor, a través del caso concreto de las traducciones de la Ilíada al castellano, muestra cómo las traducciones 'envejecen' y necesitan ser reemplazadas, periódicamente, por otras nuevas. Pero también advierte que, paradójicamente, las nuevas traducciones persiguen cierto aire de antigüedad. Así, frente al involuntario 'envejecimiento' de aquéllas, encontramos el voluntario de éstas. Aquí es donde el autor trata de desarrollar el concepto de 'envejecimiento' e intenta delimitar los ámbitos de ambos tipos de 'envejecimiento'. El título, mediante una metáfora, apunta a dicha paradoja. Secundariamente, queda actualizado el elenco de las traducciones de la Ilíada al castellano. An Example: the Iliad Xaverio BALLESTER The author, by judging the concrete case of the translators of the Iliad into Spanish, shows how translations become dated and have to be replaced by modern ones. But the also realizes that, paradoxically, the latter pursue a certain appearance of antiquity. So, besides the involuntary 'ageing' of old translations we find a voluntary 'ageing' in the modern ones. The author attempts to develop the concept of 'ageing' and tries to delimitate the areas of both sorts of 'ageing'. The title, metaphorically, refers to this paradox.
