Abstract

This paper includes the inaugural presentation made by Professor Fernando De Terán at the VI ISUF-H International Congress “Urban Form and Resilience: the challenges of comprehensive health and climate change” held at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid on the 29th and 30th of September, 2022. The paper examines the relationship between planning and urban morphology from a historical perspective, reviewing the main milestones and ideas on this issue from the second half of the 20th century to the present. The article concludes with a critical reflection on the role of urbanism at the present time, and particularly in the Spanish context.
