Abstract

The problems involved in getting at demographic and socioeconomic information coupled with those inherant in then making some sense out of it in order to put it then to some useful purpose in planning interventions at city or Autonomic Government level are shown to be the order of the day in this country, this given the wide range of governing body tupes turning out such material and its consequentially heterogeneous quality. A detailing description of these sources and their systematics forms the heart of this paper to which are added references to matters es pertinent to now-a-days as are the right to individual privacy, the answerability of statistic gatherers and the growing computerization of this our world. The paper is rounded off with a synthetizing graphic showing the sources as described within censuses, ward and parish lists, surveys, licenses, directories and election returns.
