Abstract

The covid-19 health crisis has led to irreversible changes not only in our lives but also in political systems, particularly in the territorial organization. Exclusively from a territorial point of view, it is analyzed how these two nations’ mechanisms –Spain and Mexico – that share and differ in their history, socio-economic context and federal system at the same time, have managed this pandemic declared in 2020. The aim is to know how this event has influenced their functioning and structure so that it is possible to elucidate their potential evolution, carrying out a comparative study of neighboring countries’ centrifugal and centripetal guidelines, and, this way, being able to mitigate or curb these federal systems’ trends.
