Abstract

Comparative Constitutional Law is a multi-faceted reality. It not only classifies; it increasingly pays respect to context, whether it is historical, political, economic or sociological. It is not enough to analyze legal rules; it is necessary to query about how it works. Constitutions not only prescribe; they are products of history and express values and aspirations of a given society. Generally, foreign rules are admitted without coercion, as an auxiliary tool for argumentative purposes. Exceptionally, imposition may occur in post-bellum scenarios. Globalization has made Constitutions more international-minded. How international norms make their way into domestic law is also purview of Constitutional Comparative Law.
