Abstract

The European Court of Human Rights is a regional institute at european level for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms. This essay examines the most important aspects of its regulations, specifically the European Convention on Human Rights, and its competences to analyze the importance of its jurisprudence. However, in a paralell form, it describes one supplement funtion of the European Court, not always appreciated: His possibility in favour of the generalisation and diffusion of the faith and respect for the human dignity and the human rights. The European Court make this universalization’s work of the human rights and fundamental freedoms by means of its jurisprudence, that can be understood as a model for the guarantee of the human rights in other similar instances in another international stages.
