Abstract

Dear members of the AGER ecosystem, including readers, authors, reviewers, editorial staff and members of the different AGER committees:

I am writing to all of you because the time has come to close my time as editor of the journal. I joined the editorial board in 2009, became deputy director at the beginning of 2015, took over as editor at the start of 2019. I would like to publicly thank my predecesor, Fernando Collantes, for his initial guidance, as well as the editorial team at that time for all their trust and support.

It has been 16.5 years. When I joined the editorial board, the Journal published one issue a year, but we moved to two issues the following year. In 2019, when I took over as editor, we continued with a stable periodicity, but in 2020 we made the transition to three issues a year. That was a big and risky gamble. In fact, after three years and nine issues, the “stress” to which we were putting the whole ecosystem was so high that it was advisable to return to a periodicity of two issues per year. Overall, therefore, the Journal benefits from a satisfactory stability, to say the least, since its beginning.
