Abstract

The present work focuses on the potential conflicts that might emerge, in the university environment, between the professors’ academic freedom, on the one hand, and the exercise of the academic authorities inherent competence to organize the teachings, on the other hand. The concept of academic freedom as gathered in our university legislation is explained, as well as its two dimensions: the individual (academic freedom) and the institutional one (university autonomy). Specific cases are analyzed such as the opportunity to set up a course core program by the respective Department, the capacity to decide the evaluation method for the students, the right to teaching assignment, and whether this assignment should be a determined and specific teaching, etc.
