Abstract

The objective of this paper is to study the effect of the partial substitution of the most used natural aggregates in the western region of Cuba, specifically in Havana, by mixed recycled aggregates and the total substitution of the natural filler, lime hydrate, by ladle furnace slag, in the elaboration of recycled masonry mortars. The properties provided by recycled mortars are compared to those offered by a standard mortar, made with natural sand and natural filler, and with standard regulation these products at Cuba. The results achieved are satisfactory, since the mortars made with recycled materials meet the requirements required for masonry mortars type III (suitable laying and coating mortars for use on the ground level).
