Abstract

The importance of mechanical testing in research of new materials capable of being used as replacement elements for maxillofacial structure are essential, and has the objective to guarantee its proper structural operation once implanted; that is why, this paper focuses on get the mechanical properties in bending and compression of a new composite material based on Isophthalic resin, bone, hydroxyapatite and stainless steel. The information obtained is used in a virtual and static assembly, whose components are: the section of prosthesis and condyle, the remaining mandibular bone structure and fixing screws. In this assembly, the mechanical properties of the elements are independent, in order to obtain real and relevant data of it´s behavior, in other words, determine from the mechanical point of view, if it can be used in the manufacture of maxillofacial prosthesis.
