ABSTRACT: The reading and interpretation of industrial drawings is a fundamental skill in engineering. However, engineering students show certain learning difficulties and a high failure rate in subjects such as Technical Drawing. This would be caused by the difficulty of having a systematic resolution process. This article presents a learning-teaching proposal to solve visualization problems for engineering schools. This research was carried out following a didactic approach to research. First, comprehension indicators have been defined, thorough a literature review, and comparing solving estrategies followed by the students and teachers. A resolution method has been designed which sets these comprehension indicators to work together and an activity program has been developed to assimilate the process. The factor of spatial visualization in learning was substantially improved by adapting learning material with the help of dynamic images as well as physical models, and also using technologies such as CAD and Prototyping. This method was used for two years in two different degrees at the UPV-EHU. A comparison of the results obtained by the experimental group (alternative teaching) and the control group (traditional teaching) shows a higher improvement in the experimental group.Downloads
