Abstract

ABSTRACT: In this paper, we analyse in detail an articulated headframe used for mineral extraction, located at ancient mining district located in Linares – La Carolina (Jaen, Spain), namely in the mining well ‘La Esmerada’ in Bailen. In particular, three-dimensional modelling is performed using parametric commercial software (Autodesk Inventor Professional 2014) of each of the elements of the set. Also, after obtaining the 3D model, a static analysis using techniques of Computer-Aided Engineering has been performed, based on the analysis of the von Mises stresses, displacements and safety coefficient, ensuring that the highest stress concentrations occur in the shaft and in the pulleys and spreading for the rest of the structure, in such a way that there is no part which suffer a stress as high as reach the rupture point, and that the highest concentration of displacements are on the pulleys and the cable, but in no case they are up to 5 mm. Also, it can be appreciated that the whole structure has a high safety coefficient, that is, the structure is clearly oversized. Consequently, it can be concluded that it is a highly robust structure.
