Abstract

Safety is a key factor for the success of an industrial company. On the one hand, workers` health and safety must be ensured as well as the good condition of the facilities; on the other hand, safety measures must be as efficient as possible so as not to penalize production costs. To that effect, a computer assisted supervision of switch-on/switch-off procedures of machinery helps to improve security in industrial facilities, while improving the efficiency of maintenance operations. In this article, the GEISER informatic tool, designed to help the supervision and management of switch-on/switch-off tasks in an industrial facility, is presented. Without altering standard plant procedures, it improves planning and general control, and allows to exploit the information for a continuous improvement of the company. This system runs over a web platform with mobile devices for on-line management of these procedures, keeping information synchronized with a central server accessible in any moment.
