In Memoriam: Mateo Gutiérrez Elorza
Resumen
El Profesor Mateo Gutiérrez Elorza falleció el 9 de septiembre de 2023, al día siguiente de finalizar la XVI Reunión Nacional de Geomorfología, celebrada en Zaragoza y organizada entre el Departamento de Ciencias de la Tierra de la Universidad de Zaragoza y el Instituto Pirenaico de Ecología (CSIC). Precisamente, tanto en la conferencia inaugural como en la de clausura de la reunión se citó a Mateo Gutiérrez Elorza como un referente imprescindible de la Geomorfología española, y fue emocionadamente recordado por Gloria Desir en su discurso de inauguración del congreso. Una triste y llamativa casualidad.
Mateo Gutierrez Elorza fue un científico imaginativo que recorría la primera línea de fuego, recogiendo y aportando ideas, transmitiendo sus conocimientos, un hombre libre que disfrutaba en el campo y en el despacho. Será siempre recordado como lo que fue: un gran científico que contribuyó de manera decisiva al desarrollo de la Geomorfología española.
