Specific publication rules

1. “Retos” publishes works that are carried out with methodological rigor and that represent a contribution to the progress of any field of scientific physical-sports activity, in any of the following sections:

In the section “Articles of a scientific nature: basic and/or applied research works” we will give priority to randomized empirical research and those works that present multivariate analyses. Merely descriptive articles must be of interest and be justified, otherwise they will be rejected unless the editor has previously authorized them. National surveys can be sent and published.
The articles within the section “Didactic experiences developed and investigated with empirical work” will only accept those empirical didactic experiences that have been evaluated for their applications. Those proposals that have NOT been put into practice and DO NOT contain implementation results will be rejected. Research protocols are not accepted.
In theoretical reviews, priority will be given to those from quantitative systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses, as well as scoping reviews (PRISMA, AMSTAR-2, MOOSE, REGEMA). Narrative reviews are not accepted. For the rest of the revisions, before sending them, you must contact the publisher to authorize or not authorize their submission. Those that do not do so will be automatically rejected. Simple bibliometric analyses are excluded.
It should be taken into account that according to the quality criteria of journals assumed by our journal since 2006, the percentage of articles from theoretical reviews, out of the total published by number, may not exceed 25%, that is, at least 75% They must be original articles that communicate research results. Likewise, at least 80% of the authors must be external to the editorial committee and virtually unrelated to the editorial organization of the journal.

2. The works will be original and unpublished, not admitting those that have been published totally or partially, nor those that are in the process of publication or have been presented to another journal for evaluation. It is assumed that all persons listed as authors have given their consent and that any person cited as a source of personal communication consents to such citation. Possible anomalies or plagiarism derived from it is the responsibility of the authors.
For this reason, it will be required that a certification dated and signed by the main author be sent along with the article, where it is expressly indicated that the article that is attached is original, unpublished, has not been published and is not being examined by any other journal. or publication. In the same way, that the legitimate ownership of use is held over all the intellectual and industrial property rights corresponding to the article. Likewise, that the publication rules are accepted and that the evaluation of the article by the Editorial / Scientific Committee of «Retos» is requested for its publication.
Three possible reviewers who are

specialists in the subject of the article, other than the institution to which the author / s belongs and external to the Scientific Committee of the journal Retos. It is necessary to include name, institution and contact e-mail of the proposed reviewers.

Titles, sections and subsections will be in bold and never in capital letters. For the beginning of each paragraph it will be indented with 0.5 cm.
The works, prepared in Word for PC format, will have an approximate length of 7,500 words (it is indicative). Upon request and authorization from the Editorial Board, the article may have a length greater than that indicated.

4. The manuscripts will consist of the following parts:

A. The first page will include: title (original language of the article and English, in lowercase, without italics or bold -when the original language is English, French or Portuguese, it must also be in Spanish-), a summary (original language of the article and English, in lowercase, without italics or bold -when the original language is English, French or Portuguese, it must also be in Spanish-) which will have a minimum length of 150 words and a maximum of 250, which must reflect the objective of the study, method, most outstanding results and main conclusions. At the bottom of each abstract, five to eight key words will be specified (original language of the article and English, in lower case, without italics, or bold -when the original language is English, French or Portuguese, it must also be in Spanish-), which refer to the content of the work, which must be extracted from thesauri or classifications of the field of physical activity and sport. They should be composed by the authors in the definitive way as they wish them to appear, avoiding colors whenever possible. Its size will have a base of 7 or 14 cm and the letters and signs that appear in them must be legible, avoiding empty spaces and making the most of the occupied space. The approximate way to calculate the space occupied by the tables and figures follows the equivalence of two figures of 14 x 20 cm. it is equal to a printed page of "Challenges" and a page and a half of spaced-spaced text.

6. In the case of photographs, their size will have a base of 7 or 14 cm and a maximum height of 20 cm and they must be sent as a separate file, in jpg or similar format, since there may be problems with the publication of Images obtained from the Internet, or delivered in image files that do not give good quality at the time of the printing process, in that case will not be published. In the photographs that appear people, the necessary measures must be taken so that they cannot be identified.

Results: the observations made with the material and method used are reported, not interpreted. These data can be published in detail in the text or in the form of tables and figures, graphs, diagrams, maps, etc .; as long as its use is duly justified. Discussion: the authors will present their opinions on the basis of those results, possible interpretation of them, application with the results obtained by other authors in similar publications, suggestions for future works on the subject, etc. Conclusions. Thanks. Bibliographic references.
