Eventos deportivos en el desarrollo de las ciudades: el caso de las carreras de Braga y Peso da Régua (Sport events in the development of cities: the case of Braga and Peso da Régua races)

Resumen

Los eventos deportivos de pequeño y mediano tamaño son sumamente relevantes para las comunidades por los beneficios duraderos que generan para éstas, sin embargo, en Portugal escasean los estudios que aborden esta temática. De este modo, el objetivo de la presente investigación es analizar la calidad percibida de los eventos deportivos de Meia Maratona de Douro Vinhateiro y de la Corrida de São João de Braga y su influencia en la recomendación de las regiones. Con este fin, se aplicó a 757 deportistas un cuestionario ad hoc durante el acto de entrega del kit. En base a los criterios de inclusión, fueron incluidos 659 cuestionarios en el estudio. Los datos recogidos fueron analizados mediante regresiones lineales múltiples con el software SPSS versión 22. Los resultados reflejaron una positiva percepción de los participantes en relación con los dos eventos realizados en estas dos regiones. El recorrido (β= 0.244), la organización del evento (β= 0.233) y la vida cultural de las regiones (β= 0.193) resultaron ser predictores estadísticamente significativos de las intenciones de recomendar los eventos y a la región con otras personas. Como principal conclusión, los resultados de la presente investigación permiten corroborar de forma empírica la fuerte relación entre el evento y la región, identificada a partir de los valores predictivos del recorrido sobre las intenciones de recomendar el evento. Tal constatación nos permite subrayar la importancia de evaluar la calidad de los servicios en eventos deportivos.

Abstract. Small and medium-sized sport events are extremely relevant to the communities due to the lasting benefits they generate; however, in Portugal there are few studies that address this topic. The objective of this research was to analyse the perceived quality of the sport events of the Meia Maratona de Douro Vinhateiro and Corrida de São João de Braga and their influence on the recommendation of the regions. To this end, a questionnaire ad hoc during the kit delivery event was applied to 757 athletes. Based on the inclusion criteria, 659 questionnaires were considered in the study. The data collected were analysed using multiple linear regressions with SPSS version 22 software. The results reflected a positive perception of the participants regarding to the two events held in these two regions. The route (β= 0.244), the organization of the event (β= 0.233) and the cultural life of the regions (β= 0.193) turned out to be statistically significant predictors of the intentions to recommend the events and the region for other people. The results of this research allow us to empirically corroborate the strong relationship between the event and the region, identified from the predictive values ​​of the route on the intentions to recommend the event. Such findings allow us to underline the importance of evaluating the quality of services at sporting events.
