El permanente conflicto del <i>neotraductor</i>: antecedentes, riesgos y limitaciones

Resumen

A lo largo de la historia del castellano, los usuarios del idioma han adoptado actitudes diversas (y muchas veces contradictorias) frente a la irrupción de vocablos extraños. Las propuestas de fijación de la Real Academia Española se vieron enseguida superadas por la introducción de términos que respondían a nuevas necesidades acerca de nuevas realidades científicas. Sin embargo, el tiempo ha demostrado que, a los peligros exteriores, podían sumarse también los interiores, frente a los cuales han reaccionado los académicos, los escritores y los traductores. Los condicionantes de la lengua española son tantos y tan variados que resulta necesario sistematizarlos para conseguir una metodología objetiva y fiable que permita la acomodación de los neologismos a nuestra lengua, minimizando en lo posible el permanente conflicto que ello puede implicar. Abstract The Permanent Conflict of the Neotranslator: Background, Risks and Limitations Joan VERDEGAL Throughout the history of Spanish, users of the language have adopted different (and often contradictory) attitudes towards the irruption of foreign words. The proposals for admission put forward by the Royal Spanish Academy have been immediately surpassed by the introduction of terms which meet new needs arising from new scientific realities. However, time has shown that internal dangers can be added to external ones, to which academics, writers and translators have reacted. The many and diverse conditioning elements of the Spanish language must be systematized to obtain an objective and reliable methodology that allows neologisms to be accommodated in our language, while as far as possible minimizing the permanent conflict that this may involve.
