Open Access Policy

  • This journal is open access. Access to the content of Estudios Irlandeses is free on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
  • The journal is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License that allows to use its content in educational and other non-commercial purposes, with proper attribution of authorship and of initial publication in this journal.
  • Authors retain copyright for the articles published in Estudios Irlandeses
  • There is no author’s submission fee or other publication related fee.
 

Submitting a manuscript

Submissions should be sent via email to contributions@estudiosirlandeses.org not later than November 1st 2021.

Submissions should follow the Style Sheet guidelines and the Template. Authors should also submit a signed Cover Letter.

Prior to its submission to the board of referees, the editorial team reserves the right to reject an article if it does not comply with minimum standards of quality, does not follow the formal requirements or deviates from the academic policy of the journal.

The submissions should be the result of personal research, and should not have been previously published. Estudios Irlandeses is committed to practicing the highest standards of publication ethics; if plagiarism is identified, articles will be automatically invalidated.

Illustrations, submitted as gif or jpg files, are welcome, but authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use copyright material.

Texts should be fully proofed for grammatical and typographical errors before submission.

All submissions are subject to double-blind peer review by members of the journal’s advisory board. Please find our assessment form here.

All articles are sent anonymously to two referees who are experts in the field. Their decisions on the suitability of the article are independent and  grounded on criteria of academic excellence. The judgement about which articles are finally accepted for publication is made by the Editorial Board, taking into account the referees’ reports. In case of controversy, a third expert is consulted. The final decision rests with the Editorial Board. The rejection rate of Estudios Irlandeses in the 2018 issue the rejection rate was 45,8%. In 2019 the rejection rate was 50%. In 2020, the rejection rate was 57,1 %. In 2021, the rejection rate was 51%.

Peer-review process can take from three to four months.

Authors who submit an article to Estudios Irlandeses can expect three different results:

-The article is accepted for publication without further changes.

-The article is accepted for publication provided the author modifies his/her work according to the referees’ suggestions.

-The article is rejected because of serious objections made by the referees.

 

Ethical guidelines: Potential authors will subscribe to a personal ethical code. If plagiarism is detected during the peer review process, the manuscript will be rejected. If it is detected after publication, it will be corrected or retracted. Plagiarism includes copying text, ideas, images, or data from another source, even from your own publications, without giving credit to the original source.

 

Apart from essays the journal also features regular sections devoted to:

  • A round-up of all Irish-themed books produced in Spain during the previous year.
  • Selected reviews of Irish-themed books produced internationally during the previous year.
  • A comprehensive year in review of Irish cinema
  • A comprehensive year in review of Irish film and media studies publications
