Abstract

This article focuses upon the environmental conditioning of housing in warm and humid climates, and on obtaining thermal comfort conditions through predominantly passive means. The experimental analysis centers upon a representative example of the type of housing found in Havana (Cuba), a typical example of the warm-humid climate. Evolution of indoor temperatures for different natural ventilation and shading strategy scenarios are analyzed using dynamic simulation software. Comparing the indoor temperatures of the house, resulting from the simulation carried out, with the outdoors hour by hour and day to day provided by the model, the damping and amplitudes of the thermal wave are quantified in winter and summer conditions, depending on the different strategies adopted, and the thermal situations obtained in order to better housing habitability of the model are assessed.
