Abstract

ABSTRACT: The development of technologies for carbon capture and storage (CCS) has been driven by national and international agencies for the need to mitigate climate change resulting from economic development. The deployment of CCS technologies can be an essential contribution to the global effort to reduce GHG, CO2 product in industry and power plants using fossil fuels. There are industries such as steel and cement, where the CCS is the only solution to achieve a substantial reduction of CO2 emissions. Most of the technologies that are necessary for the implementation of CCS are being used in a variety of industries, but are not yet in commercial-scale electricity generation. CCS technology has a fundamental role in the portfolio of technologies to reduce emissions. The IEA (International Energy Agency) has developed different scenarios that examine various ways to achieve emission reductions. Fundamentally, the changes required to reduce CO2 emissions in half by 2050 was reduced to three strategies to create a more flexible system and decentralized energy, improve energy efficiency, transforming electricity generation. The public and private sectors must accept the need for additional investment and early retirement inadequate facilities, to accelerate the process and reduce emissions, especially in power plants and equipment. The most important technological change required is the decarbonisation of the electricity system in 2050. There is still no consensus on which of the CO2 capture technology is the most effective. What seems that clear is in the near future it will be necessary to use one of these technologies to contribute to the non-issuance of greenhouse gases
