Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this paper is to carry out a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to simulate the combustion process in a four-stroke diesel engine, the MAN D2840LE V10. The pressure, velocity and concentration of chemical species were obtained, as well as the emissions. For the purpose, the commercial software Ansys Fluent was employed. In order to validate this work, numerical results were compared with experimental ones. The aim of future works is to use this numerical procedure to optimize the performance and reduce the emissions of the new engine designs.
