THREATS AND OPPORTUNITIES OF REVERSE INNOVATION FOR SMES

Abstract

SUMMARY: Reverse innovations usually originate in developing economies and then deploy them in developed countries. This strategy is being carried out in a crescent shape by multinationals who have access to the market structure of developing countries and can realize their potential to innovate. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) Europe must face increasing competition with new products from countries with developing economies as well as developed by multinationals through reverse innovation products. For all this, it is critical that SMEs defend their position to develop products using the techniques of reverse innovation, meeting specific challenges in doing so. In this work, these challenges are addressed and what are the best practices for implementing reverse innovation in SMEs adapted from those used by multinationals.
