Abstract

Throughout the twentieth century in the field of industrial design have been exploited a large number of identities, in many cases directly linked with the geographical area. Beyond to a certain style, these identities respond to a longer range characteristics, such as importance of social and cultural impact. The identity of the Spanish industrial design is a topic that has generated debate over the past decades due to their complexity and the different opinions raised. This paper has made a literature review in order to collect the opinions of the principal authors, confirming the complexity of addressing this issue. In order to clarify the identity of Spanish design, has been carried out a quantitative study, analyzing companies, designers and relevant products of habitat sector. The analysis allowed us to obtain a number of key data that we clarify the identity of Spanish design, contrasting well with the literature reviewed. Finally, after obtaining these parameters has been discussed the importance of its identifying and relevance in this sector of the Spanish industry.
