Metodología para la caracterización y diseño de Espacios Urbanos Saludables y Resilientes

Resumen

La salud va más allá de la simple ausencia de enfermedades; implica un estado integral de bienestar físico y mental, estrechamente vinculado al entorno urbano en el que vivimos. Comprender esta relación es clave para diseñar ciudades que promuevan una vida saludable. Este estudio propone una evaluación de barrios y ciudades desde la perspectiva de la salud urbana mediante la Matriz de Diagnóstico de Salud (MDS), una herramienta basada en la Guía para planificar Ciudades Saludables (Fariña et al., 2022) y puesta en práctica gracias a varios proyectos desarrollados para el Gobierno Vasco. La MDS combina análisis cuantitativos y cualitativos para valorar aspectos clave del entorno urbano, facilitando diagnósticos sistemáticos de los espacios públicos. Gracias a un visor interactivo, los resultados se presentan en mapas y gráficos dinámicos, lo que permite identificar los principales determinantes urbanos de la salud. Esta información ayuda a los gobiernos locales a priorizar intervenciones que mejoren la calidad de vida. Como ejemplo, se analiza el barrio de Santutxu, en Bilbao, demostrando la utilidad y aplicabilidad de la herramienta. La propuesta es escalable y replicable, lo que la convierte en un recurso valioso para diseñar barrios saludables en distintos contextos urbanos, contribuyendo al cumplimiento integrado de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) 11, 3 y 13.
