La Diputación de Barcelona contribuye al diseño, planificación y gestión de ciudades más saludables mediante el trabajo del grupo transversal Entorno Urbano y Salud. El artículo destaca las aportaciones de dos servicios: Urbanismo (GSHUA), que apoya a los municipios en la incorporación de criterios de salud en el planeamiento, como en el caso de Vic (provincia de Barcelona), premiado por su POUM; y Equipamientos y Espacio Público (GSEIUPA), que promueve espacios públicos saludables. Ambos han desarrollado herramientas innovadoras basadas en evidencia científica: una plataforma web para evaluar planes urbanísticos y otra para valorar intervenciones en el espacio público. Además, se han publicado recursos como la Guía para el diseño de calles saludables, guías de arbolado y jardinería urbana, y se han impulsado acciones formativas y divulgativas como la Feria Verde Urbano Igualada (provincia de Barcelona).
